About

One developer, one app, your computer.

Focal is made by Vincent Coscia, one developer in Miami, Florida, under the studio VC Media. It exists because Windows had no screen recorder that made a polished demo without an editing session afterwards, and because a recording of your own screen should stay on your own computer.

The idea is simple: record the screen clean, and add the polish when you edit, where it can still be changed. Zooms follow your clicks, the cursor is redrawn smooth and sharp, captions are made from your voice on your machine, and the frame around it all is a style you save once.

Focal is built for Windows and nothing else, which is how it stays a 9 MB installer that opens in about a second and records for hours on a few percent of the CPU. There is no account, no telemetry and no subscription.

Questions, ideas and bug reports go to support@focalcapture.com, and the answer comes from the person who wrote the code.
