What happens after the 12 months of updates?
The version you have keeps working, with no reminder and no lock. If you want the updates published after your year, a $49 renewal extends it by another twelve months. Renewals are optional and are offered when the first year is close to ending.
Can I use one license on several computers?
Yes, on up to 3 computers that you yourself use. Moving to a new computer is a matter of deactivating the key in Settings on the old one, or of the old activation falling away when the computer is gone.
Does a team need one license per person?
Yes. A license is for one person, and a team buys one per person. Write to support@focalcapture.com for five or more and the licenses come as one order with one invoice.
Does Focal need to be online?
Only to activate the key and to check it about once a day. It keeps working for 14 days without any connection, so a laptop on a plane or a desk without internet is fine.
How do refunds work?
Write to support@focalcapture.com within 14 days of buying and the purchase is refunded, no questions asked. The trial is there so that this rarely needs to happen.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. Focal is sold through Polar as the merchant of record, which charges any VAT or sales tax that applies and emails a receipt. The invoice, with your company name and VAT number if you need them, comes from Polar's customer portal.
How do I get the education discount?
Students, teachers and researchers get 40% off. Write to support@focalcapture.com from an institution address, or with something that shows your status, and a discount code comes back.
